This morning I woke to the sound of my neighbors trying to get to work: hacking at the ice as if digging for gold, then the sound of tires spinning on the ice as they tried to get out, and lots of yelling ("Now reverse, now GUN IT!!"). We had a bit of a thaw yesterday afternoon, then bitterly cold wind last night that seemed to lock everything in place. The trees look tired under the weight, but so far we haven't lost power. And I am totally looking forward to having a garage. Thankfully Steve cleared off my car yesterday before the refreeze (he's a gem). But, as dangerous as it is I love an ice storm because it is so beautiful.
